Roimata is a barrister with over 20 years of experience specialising in cases related to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Her work has included acting for lead claimants in the Waitangi Tribunal’s Health Services and Outcomes Inquiry, which resulted in the watershed Hauora Report and the establishment of the Māori Health Authority.
Roimata has acted in litigation against Oranga Tamariki, the Department of Corrections, and ACC; represented clients in the first negotiations under the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011 to achieve Customary Marine Title; and advised iwi at every stage of Treaty settlement negotiations.
